What's Joe Been Doing?

Bsg_kara_mom

Sleeping, as much as possible and watching a lot, I mean a lot, of TV. No, that's not me with Kara Thrace, that's her mom. I was so thrilled when she finally shows up and it's Dorothy Lyman, who's birthday was last April 18 -- Have a happy honey! Love her. Haven't seen Dorothy since one day years ago at the French Market Place in WeHo. I used to know the guy who handled her horses.

Kara's mom was a ... See You Next Tuesday, if you know what I mean. No wonder Kara is so effed up.

Anyhow, I'm starting to feel much more chipper than when I woke up a couple days ago. Still I have some errands and shopping to catch up on so I'm spending some of the day out of the house, and then if you come back later or tomorrow morning, you can read all about the hours and hours of television I've been watching.

I'm almost finished with BSG season three and I have all the current season DVR'd and ready to watch in sequence. Right now I'm about 15 minutes into the second chapter of the episode Crossroads, Laura has just announced that her cancer has returned and everyone is mourning the loss of craziest chick in the universe Kara Thrace.

Just in time, as the fourth and final season of The 4400 has come out on DVD and I have to hear what Ira Behr is gonna say in the commentaries about the cancelation of the show and most of all the failure of NBC-Uni to promote the USA Network show (though produced by CBS Paramount) once they got their hands on Heroes, which was remarkably similar in concept at the outset (and kind of still is).

Okay, gotta get out and about, but I'll be back later,

So, Enjoy the Emmy Awards ...

4400_diana_tom

... and someone please remember to watch the season finale of The 4400, because if USA runs the season finale of The 4400 and no one is there, does it make a sound?

I'm just sayin'.

The Incredible Shrinking Isabelle from The 4400

4400_isabelle

So, is this photo above the last you fans will see of Isabelle? Because when we ended last night's episode, she was about four years old. I guess Richard gave her a bit too much of that stuff in her water to make her regress.

There was a moment there that I thought they might try to graft Megalyn Echikunwoke's face via CGI to an every diminishing line of actresses, but they went for a for natural thing.

Still, Richard's return did not quite go the way he thought. And with Lily showing up, he's really freaking out I'm sure.

Add to that Tom and Meghan having friendsex and it was quite the evening. Gotta tell you that every time Tom gets close to a woman I fear for his life because it seems the writing staff wants to keep him perpetually tortured. And don't think I wasn't looking at all the art on the walls waiting to see if Alana would pop out of a painting and ... well, I don't really know what I was expecting.

Anyway, new to me at the USA website for the show is a set tour with creator Scott Peters and it includes the garden in Promise City so it's from this season. Click here for that.

Good Morning, Kate Moss' Ass

Kate_moss_assWell, it's only 10 or so here in the west. I would like nothing better than to go back to sleep, but as Steve Miller says, "Time keeps on slippin', slippin', slippin' into the future."

No, not saying that I will eventually "Fly Like An Eagle" today, but I will soldier on.

I am committed to spending the next few days catching up on John from Cincinnati episodes at HBO on Demand, watching the final episode of Meadowlands on Showtime (I actually fell asleep before it last night, I'm an old man) and telling you why I think the TV Academy, the really old men -- and women -- in this equation, failed to recognize Dexter.

Shameless, you tasteless trolls. That's right, I'm talkin' to you, Emmy nominators.

I also recognize that I "owe the blog" a post from the Comic-Con panel for The 4400, and that comes after some senseless piffle (speaking of piffle, check out this post at the blog PiffleMe about a senseless tragedy involving a tomato the size of Kate Moss' buttocks.

Pictured above is Kate Moss' actual buttocks.

The 4400 Panel at Comic-Con -- Just Hold On, It's Upcoming

4400_megalyn_conchita

I swear it's coming. I have a lot to say. It just wanna get all my ducks in a row first.

Here's a tease -- Ira Behr told the audience that soon it really won't matter if someone chooses to take Promicin or not. The choice will be made for them.

Here's another tease -- There's gonna be a family reunion on the show. Which family? You gotta figure that out.

And there's flying produce involved.

And, another woman too stunning to be in the same room with me is Megalyn Echikunwoke (above with Conchita Campbell), the lovely Isabelle.

A Very Busy Episode of The 4400 Last Night

4400_curtis_peck Wow, I know I said I wanted something to happen after the first two episodes, but they don't have to make up for lost time by throwing everything and the kitchen sink at us last night, give a guy a break!

The first thing I betcha people at Microsoft did today was look behind Bill Gates' ear for an "X." His doppelganger (albeit a better looking one) is one of ten people reseeded into the past to bring about change, but what kind of change? And who are the rest of them?

It's hard to tell, we don't get to go into the future unless Tom Baldwin throws himself off a bridge or tries to kill himself in some other way so who's to tell who the good guys are versus the bad?

I'm sure there were some of you out there that didn't particularly like the whimsical way we found out about "The Marked," but I thought it was genius. One of the things I like about these storytellers is that they aren't afraid of quirky., and I'll tell you this, I wanna see those Curtis Peck movies, especially the one about the Kennedy assasination. That's some good original recipe 4400 guerilla filmmaking there.

Chad_faust The4400Guide.com points out that Curtis Peck (pictured) has a MySpace page with clips from his movies and all kinds of stuff for fans of the show, and if you look you might find a link to producer/writer Craig Sweeny's page, too.

But there's even more from last night. In my attempts to figure out just what Jordan Collier is up to, I've decided to go "meta" and start thinking about Billy Campbell's motivations for signing on as a regular this season. I just can't believe that Campbell signed up to play this savior that everyone presumes he is. I think there's more down the road this season for him to sink his teeth into dramatically if he's a villian, so I'm going with that.

And have you noticed the new, placid, almost Botox-injected looking countenance of Kyle Baldwin (also pictured)? He has certainly "drank the Kool-Aid." So much so he walks around with that pleased look of a Young Republican who knows what daddy's will says.

And what of Isabelle? Will she do more than look good? You gotta believe that she's there for a reason.

Here's the description at USA's site for next week:

When Jordan Collier annexes a piece of Seattle, the government sends in a team of assassins to kill him. But a prediction from Maia makes Tom and Diana question whether killing Jordan might make things worse.

Also, not mentioned, but Shawn gets laid. Finally, someone takes the time to have some sex on this show. But he uses his abilities to do it and his Congressman acquaintance is none too pleased.

Plenty on Tap for Sunday Night Viewing

Remember there's a new The 4400, a new Meadowlands (and it's gonna be a good one, much will be revealed) and a full slate of [adult swim] sit-comics available for your eyes' and ears' enjoyment, and if you can't get into any of that, there's The Simpsons times four over at Fox in advance of the movie opening Friday night (I might try to convince San Diego Jim to see it with me while I'm down there for Comic-Con).

And that was one helluva run-on sentence, especially for a former English major.

Just for the hell of it, here's The Simpsons Movie trailer:

Be Careful About 4400 Spoilers

4400_logo

I'm mentioning this to any fans of the show that don't want to know what's going to happen, like me.

Apparently, somewhere on this planet, they are up to episode 10 of this season, and you may run across posts about it online. I ran into one and although it answered a burning question, it also had some information that I would have rather not known about the fate of Isabelle.

So, all I'm sayin' is, if you want to enjoy the revelations, be careful what you read.

Finally, Something Happens on The 4400

4400_april_skourisAbout time, folks.

You now how you can tell which member of the Starship Enterprise crew in going to get killed when Kirk and crew beam down to a planet? Well, The 4400 can get like that with their victim of the week episodes. You always know you'll never see the guest star again the second they show up and something happens to them, like Constance Towers last week and the kid who played Graham the week before.

Finally, a story that involves all our regular characters and something actually happens to them. Isabelle and Kyle form a bond, the April Skouris storyline was outstanding, and we now have a sense of what some of the major conflicts of the next few eps will be now that Shawn's running for city council, teaming up with that Senator (Congressman? I'm not sure which right now).

I particularly like April's ability, oh to be able to get the truth just by asking a pointed question. She should be a judge. I'm sure, however, that NTAC will scurry her away long enough for some other government agency to find out about her and use her against other 4400s.

I have to say I have never been this huge supporter of Natasha Gregson Wagner, despite my undying love for her mom Natalie Wood, but she was very very good in this ep.

Let's see if they can keep the momentum rolling till next Sunday.
