I Got a Deal For You, Are You In?

Okay, here it is ... next week let's pull out all those titles of pilots that we heard about and read about and got excited about when they were cast with our favorite performers, compare them to the schedules as announced, and complain a lot.

I've got dibs on The Stumps of Hollywood. I was really looking forward to that. Anybody got a copy of the pilot they wanna pass along?

And there was also The Thick of It, which had such a great pedigree and an outstanding cast. I wouldn't might getting my hands on that, either.

For some additional analysis, check out Virginia Heffernan's roundup of the upfront news here.

Tomorrow's Pilot News Today -- Lotsa News, Lotsa Predictions

Well, the story is dated May 7. From Nellie Andreeva at the Reporter:

CW, which is looking to add three to four new dramas, is said to be high on Schwartz's "Gossip Girl," "The Reaper" and the untitled South Africa project.

Josh_schwartzThat's Josh Schwartz, creator of The O.C., who may have two of his pilots picked up, Gossip Girl at The CW, and Chuck at NBC. I know that the little box at the bottom of the Hollywood Reporter homepage says he has three pilots ready to go, but for the life of me I can't find the third.

The show I really want to go to series in The Stumps of Hollywood, which this article is still calling Fugly, it's original name. I'm a big fan of all the leads (Nikki Cox, Michael Rapaport and Marissa Jaret Winokur).

I would also like The IT Crowd to make it, although I fear what it will do to my Friday night habit, E!'s The Soup, if Joel McHale leaves.

ABC seems to also like The Thick of It, which has a lot of pedigree going into it. Just check out the IMBD page, there's a lot of talent there.

The upfronts are in New York the week after Mother's Day, and if anyone who reads this blog will be there, could you send me an email? I would like to know what's going on as it goes on.

You know how to email, just click here.

"The War at Home" Is Over, I Think

Michael_rapaport

I hear the death knell, and it sounds Fugly.

Yahoo! TV News and the Reporter are indicating that Michael Rapaport will round out the principals in Fugly, with Nikki Cox and Marissa Jaret Winokur.

I guess that means that Rob Lotterstein's The War at Home is down for the count. That's a shame. I know I was one of 43 people who looked forward to it every week, but I still kind of held out hope that it would find a way to stick around.

It's a very good call for the producers of Fugly, though. Rapaport is an asset.

UPDATE: The new title is The Stumps of Hollywood, thank you, Variety.

Nikki Cox Alert! Already Has A New Job and in a Sitcom Pilot

Nikki_coxLike I said previously, she is the rarest of rare; a very, very hot young woman with great comic timing.

And Nikki, you belong in a sitcom, honey.

Marissa Jaret Winokur seems like fun to work with on this CBS pilot Fugly. And, after Stacked, the former Broadway star is comfortable working with bombshells.

I presume that Nikki will play the sister that they invest all the makeover efforts on and then move to Hollywood to make it big.

As I've said previously, I'm a fan. Also, they may be changing the name of this pilot. I saw a mention of a new title somewhere online today, but now it's lost.

Marissa Jaret Winokur is "Fugly" for CBS

Fugly_winokur First off, I don't think she's fugly. I think she's a cute funny woman with a weight problem, and I'm the last person to remark on weight.

I guess this means Stacked really isn't coming back, even if the webpage is still up at the Fox website.

Here's what the show's about, according to The Futon Critic:

Comedy about three homely siblings in North Carolina - identical twin sisters and a brother - who pool their money together to give one of the trio a dramatic makeover and then move to Hollywood to take advantage of the pretty one's new looks.

Not that there's a great record lately with TV shows about Hollywood, but I'm always up for one. If you agree, though, you need to know we are in the minority. Maybe the fish out of water aspect of this will help.

It's a Greg Garcia creation (My Name is Earl). Todd Holland (Malcolm in the Middle, Wonderfalls) is directing.
