Peter Griffin Interviews Cleveland Brown, Star of His Own New Show

Cleveland_cast Apparently this was posted on YouTube in May (during upfronts) and only about 100,000 + people have seen it thus far, so I'm posting it here because it's a holiday and I have another Doctor Who post following this and I'm trying to break them up with something unrelated.

Not that you really needed to know that.

What am I doing now? Just trying to fashion enough of a post so that I can say something to the effect of "the clip is after the jump" so that you can feel not so cheated and actually wanna click to the clip.

What a quandry! The longer I spend rambling nonsensically through the next couple graphs, the more you'll become more exasperated and remember this moment the next time I try a trick like this, risking your alienation.

So, I guess I better stop this. Clip's after the jump. I guess you already knew that. Good clip, shows you what the characters will look and sound like and it's funny to boot.

Behind the Fuzzy Door -- THR Live Feed Talks to Seth MacFarlane, Will Stewie Come Out?

Stewie_rupert Get it? Fuzzy Door Productions is Seth's company. Still, would make a great porn title, wouldn't it?

James Hibberd's THR Live Feed blog and reporter Paul Gough get this out of Seth:

"Most likely," MacFarlane said in response to the Stewie/gay question, "in some way it's going to be worked into the plot of the 'Family Guy' movie if we ever have the time to get it off the ground," MacFarlane said.

For the Fox midseason spin-off, MacFarlane confirmed Cleveland's family will leave Quohog and return to his hometown in Virginia

"It'll be worth it. You'll love the talking bear, believe me," he said.

Stewie of course is only one year old. Still. You gotta remember, these people don't age, they are two-dimensional. and they have four fingers on each hand.

And of course, that talking bear above is not the one on the spinoff, that's Fantasy Rupert. and Fantasy Rupert would never leave Stewie's side, especially now that they can fly to CA and get married.

Which brings something up, btw, I'm having an issue with The Simpsons flashbacks this season. How can they flash back to 1994 when I was watching the show in 1994?

I know, it's a cartoon. I guess Scooby Doo and Scrappy Doo don't really fly through space without breathing apparati (apparatuses?) either.

$55.7 Million! That's A Lot of Biz For a Movie About "Three Whores and Their Mom"

Garson Which just goes to show that one person's three whores and their mom is another person's weekend of the year.

That quote should be attributed to Brian Griffin, by the way. Yes, I mean the Griffin family dog.

And who am I to judge, I love a show about a guy who travels around in an old police call box usually with a a younger woman that he never ever has sex with. What's more unusual?

Besides, they aren't whores, they're gay men. And as much as I've enjoyed the show during it's HBO run (but I find it unwatchable on TBS or syndie) they aren't gay men that I would be hanging out with.

But here's to the gayest big Hollywood movie ever made doing big business, despite only having two gay characters (and there's Willie Garson at some event pictured above).

What, you wanted another pic of SJP and her crew? Just click any link on the web and you have a good chance of seeing that.

Family Guy Behind the Scenes Concert Video, & Spooner Street's Cleveland Brown Leaves Quahog

Fguy_cleveland_brown

Seth, Alex and Mike Henry at Disney Hall clip after the jump from my local CW affiliate, but first ...

Mike Henry of course is the voice of Cleveland, and gets his own show coming up in the Fall, but what you haven't known until now is that Cleveland is leaving Quahog.

From the press release:

From the creators of Family Guy and American Dad, comes The Cleveland Show (working title), the story of what happens when Family Guy’s Cleveland Brown moves to Stoolbend, VA, to make good on a promise to his high school sweetheart.

And the show will have a January premiere, as animated shows like this and the Mitch Hurwitz-led Sit Down, Shut Up both need ample lead time before making it to air. They'll replace King of the Hill and American Dad at that time, but I'm sure that we'll see various permutations of the Animation Domination lineup after that as they fine tune. Certainly, however, those other shows will be back.

"Are You Gonna Shower Her Off After All That Candle Wax?"

Famguy_stewie"No, I'm gonna keep her filthy."

"Yeah, she's been a bad girl."

"And then I'm gonna gag her with her own brassiere."

I just thought I would remind all of you (and me) that this is essentially Seth talking to himself on tape. If you think about it in that context it's so much more fun.

I'm gonna move this clip past the jump to get it off the homepage.

Seth MacFarlane Wins At Fox's "Let's Make a Deal"

Family_guy_brianOh, excuse me, that's "Let's Make a Mega-Deal" according to the Reporter:

The pact, which could be worth more than $100 million, will keep MacFarlane at 20th TV through 2012. It covers his services on "Guy" and his other two animated series for 20th TV and Fox -- "American Dad!" and the upcoming "Guy" spinoff "The Cleveland Show" -- as well as his TV development, including a multicamera comedy with "Guy" writer Gary Janetti. It also encompasses new-media projects related to MacFarlane's TV series as well as DVD and merchandising revenue from them. ("Guy" alone has grown into a $1 billion franchise with red-hot DVD and merchandise sales.) Additionally, the deal is said to include advances towards MacFarlane's back end, which is expected to increase under the new deal.

"I get a lot of pleasure out of making shows," MacFarlane said. "It's a bonus to be getting paid well for it, and it's a double bonus to be getting paid exorbitantly for it."

Neither side would comment on the size of the deal, with 20th TV chairman Dana Walden noting only that "no one will ever have to offer Seth a handout of any kind."

He will be the highest paid writer-producer in TV, at least until someone else becomes the highest paid writer-producer in TV.

And certainly Seth is worth the money. And more than that, his stuff makes me laugh. Sure, I would rather see a Quagmire spinoff than a Cleveland spinoff, but I betcha I'll enjoy whatever comes out of this deal.

What can I say? I'm in, I'm with the program. I will tune in. And Seth seems like a quality guy. Watch, the second I say something like that they'll be pulling Seth off a Hollywood streetcorner dressed in drag turning tricks.

Can anyone say Lee Tamahori?

Watch some Quagmire after the jump.

What's With TV Comedy Getting So Violent?

Family_guy_griffins_fight Examples from SNL and Family Guy after the jump, you know, that you can watch. Better than listening to me ramble on.

Dan at BestWeekEver.tv:

I’ve made no pretense about my hatred of Family Guy on this site in the past, but last night, three of my fellow FG-hating friends happened to catch the episode, and I have to say, not only did I laugh out loud probably five or six times, the show had an interesting plot, and most interestingly of all, I feel like I’m now numb enough towards the FG standby jokes (superfast fight sequence, offensive joke for no reason, reference for the sake of reference, etc.) to simply ignore them.

So Dan's getting numb to it as a joke, and I'm just getting uncomfortable with it. You know that scene where Stewie just wrecks Brian over money owed ? Now, I know I'm talking about a fight between a talking one-year-old (still? yes, still -- and don't let it ever change) and a talking dog. Sure, I get that, but on most cartoons you watch you don't see a character laying in a growing pool of blood.

The chicken fight was funny, the family fight was cathartic, but now it's just going back to the same disturbing well. And there are kids all over YouTube collecting the scenes and commenting how cool they are.

Just makes me, I dunno, let's just say that's also disturbing.

For me, it's getting increasingly in the way of the show.

America's Least Threatening Pedophile Gets a Bath

Of course, it's Mr. Herbert from Family Guy.

(Don't worry about the ad message, there don't seem to be pre-roll ads on this length clip. At the end, Hulu gives you the option of watching it again or watching the whole episode, which is the one that aired last Sunday, so have at it if you want.)
