The Venture Bros. Returns Sunday (Finally!) and Well Worth the Wait

Vb_logo

It's only the most remarkable piece of animated entertainment ever imagined and executed.

A special word from Jackson Publick (from his blog) before you watch:

Don't watch it if you don't want to ruin anything for yourselves...

It should be noted that, while an entertaining group of clips, this piece is by no means a "best of Season 3" reel. Doc only had three and a half completed episodes to cull from at the time he put this together.

Production updates and more about our Comicon experience to come in a later post...

Clip is after the jump, natch. And tune in on June 1 for the season premiere, or watch it online at [adult swim] after that, but you'll enjoy it more on the tube with a beverage in one hand and, well, if you're Al Bundy, your other hand in your pants.

And if you know nothing about this show, get with it, will you? You're missing some remarkable TV. Cartoons for adults are the best.

The Collection Now Includes The Venture Bros. Seasons One & Two

I know I could have gotten a better deal on buying both at the same time online, but it was one of those impulse buys while I was picking up Superbad and Ratatouille.

I'm trying to catch up with some movies on DVD before tomorrow night. I haven't seen one of the nominated movies; when I watch something it's always a great TV show or some piece of crap that I can make fun of here so there's not a whole lot of time. But I realized the other day that I still haven't even taken the plastic off Brokeback Mountain (yes, I know, it was early 2006 when it went on sale, I even bought it the first week, you know, to support the movie) , Children of Men and Knocked Up and that was sad. I still can't say they've escaped their hermetic seals but I did manage to buy other stuff and open it up.

I buy [adult swim] DVDs because I'm pretty sure their business model depends on people doing so, and I like to support sub-divisions of Fortune 100 companies that engage in renegade, dissident entertainment forms.

After the jump, one of the things about the show that endears me to it, especially as a resident of Orange County.

I'm Doing You a Favor As I Say Goodnight

I'm posting this clip from an episode of The Venture Bros.

I'm posting it so that you can familiarize yourself with it unless you don't know it.

Without this knowledge, you cannot claim to be completely culturally literate.

It's just the best.

Here, now that you've seen that, go watch a whole episode at this link.

Penance Done -- I Watched Three Minutes of "Saul of the Molemen"

If you must, it's right here at The Fix (opens in a new window) at [adult swim], which, btw, works so much better in Firefox than it did in IE7.

Having said that, I can assure you that your life will be no more enriched afterwards than before.

So, both non-animation shows from [adult swim] get failing grades here. Hopefully, now that some people know that there's money for original live content there from these people, they'll get more and better pitches for shows.

People they are already working with who could do better? Seth Green and Jackson Publick & Doc Hammer. Oh, and Dino Stamatopoulos of course. Moral Orel is amazing!

In fact, here's an ep of Moral Orel I love called "God's Image" at The Fix. And, it was co-written by 30 Rock's Scott Adsit.

Here's the Robot Chicken video blog, in case you haven't ventured over.

And here's something I hadn't seen until now about the Venture Bros. creators.
