Yes, I have, because of those nice people at the network (thanks, Jennifer). The DVD came while I was in Oklahoma, and I popped it in almost immediately.
I am not going to give you spoilers, but I will tell you that everything that happens in the episodes "Something Borrowed" and "Something Blue" will set up the next season and possibly seasons to come. Very important decisions are made. The titles of the episodes are fitting, very fitting, but I'll never tell why. I will tell you this, this is NOT a wedding that goes off without a hitch. I will also ask you to "check out the frosting." What does that mean? I'll never tell. Oh, and one more thing ... there are moments where you are lulled into a false sense of security as a viewer and then the rug is pulled out from under you and your entire HIMYM universe is upended. Oh my!
Spent a few minutes after contemplating after the show and of all the shows that could have picked up after Friends and run with a story of twenty-somethings in NYC, this one is the most effective. And even as a (mumbly-mumble) year-old man (okay, 46!) I still enjoy watching what people this age might do because they live in a world where many things are possible. There's a hope about that time in a younger person's life (well, younger than me, anyway) that I'm drawn to.
So, to salute the year that it was on HIMYM, I thought I'd post the Robin Sparkles music video again:
Check out how Robin says the word "about." Can you say aboot? How Canadian!
If you're not watching the show, introduce yourself to it today on CBS Innertube (link will open in a new window).
