SNL Video -- Watch Canteen Boy & the Scoutmaster Before Alec Baldwin Hosts Tonight

Alec_baldwin The musical guests are the Jonas Brothers. No clip from them as this is not a space for kids, but do watch this below, which is legendary and features what I think is Adam Sandler's only decent performance on the show, ever.

Not really a fan of Sandler, not at all.

But I do love my Alec Baldwin. Not just 'cause he's a Long Island boy and not just because he's the co-host of TCM's The Essentials this season.

And, speaking of Alec and SNL, there was a sketch that Alec did with Molly Shannon back in the day where Alec plays, get this, a little girl that has some sort of disease that has made her look like a handsome, virile man. Molly plays the children's ward hospital clown who does untoward things with this patient.

Can't find it or even a mention of it anywhere on the web.

This isn't one ofthose things that just happened in my brain and not in actual existence, is it?

Clip after the jump, watch the show tonight at 11:29 (why 11:29 anyway?) on NBC.

(I'm actually quite sure that the Baldwin-Shannon sketch that I described really happened. I just think it was maybe too over the top of the show at the time and it never ran in the shortened version for syndication and cable. A shame, too, because it remains one of the funniest sketches the show has ever done.)

Can Someone Tell Me Why?

MTV_movie_adam-sandler-tom-cruise

Sittin' here letting the MTV Movie Awards play in the background.

Can someone tell me why it's always so painful when Tom Cruise tries to be funny?

Oh, and the show itself? Could it be more of a whore-fest for the cheesiest movies of the Summer including this Sandler thing? And how many times do I need to be reminded that The Love Guru is opening in theatres this Summer?

Finally, even if it's true and you have photos and documentation, that introduction fails to convince me that Tom Cruise and Adam Sandler have ever met.

How could someone who back in the day so convincingly played Ron Kovic be so bad portraying himself?

Two Funny or Die Clips, But Why Two?

Well, I'll explain, don't I always?

I want to post this Adam Sandler music video with Nick Swardson, but Sandler gave a bunch of cash to Giuliani's presidential campaign (hey, that's how I roll, gotta problem with that?) so I have to find something to offset that. I found that clip at Funnyor Die also.

(Giuliani, can you believe that? Was Adam Sandler paying no attention at all when he was living in NYC during the Giuliani era? The man is trying to build his entire career on a tragic event in our nation's history and people are letting him. That's just sad and pitiful. Before 9/11, Rudy was reviled among New Yorkers.)

So, here's Sandler with Swardson lipsynching along to a song that is certainly NSFW and kinda not for kids, but not too nasty:

And here's "Ask a Republican" from the same site:

Okay, Who Forgot to Tell Me About Gay Robot?

Nick_swardson Interesting, I was planning to write something about Nick Swardson today, and then I saw this at the Hollywood Reporter:

It looks as if Comedy Central and Sony Pictures Television might be powering up "Gay Robot" again but this time as an animated project, sources said. The project -- from SPT and Adam Sandler and Jack Giarraputo's production company, Happy Madison -- was first ordered to pilot in 2005 as a scripted, live-action adaptation of a character featured on Sandler's comedy album "Shhh ... Don't Tell." The title character (voiced by Nick Swardson, reprising his role from the album) is a robot who discovers after an unfortunate incident involving a wine cooler and his circuit boards that he is gay. After "Robot" didn't get picked up by the network, SPT made the pilot and clips from it available on such sites as MySpace (where Gay Robot has his own page), BitTorrent and Sony-owned Grouper.

So, I decided to find and post the live-action Gay Robot (the full pilot) right here:

I was a little hesitant when I heard the title, but it's rather kind-hearted, isn't it? And it teaches important lessons about Internet dating.

Well, it's not going to be live action but instead what this blog calls a sit-comic, so look for it, eventually, possibly.

And about Nick Swardson, I imagine for some of you he's an acquired taste, but he cracks me up. If two years ago it was Steve Carell who blew up and this Summer it's Seth Rogen, in a couple of years I think it will be Nick that has the big year.

Sandler Subs For Letterman -- It's Just a Stomach Flu

You know, with Dave's doctor attending to Regis' recovery, we certainly don't want Dave to have heart issues, and, fyi, he doesn't. Sandler was scheduled as a guest last night and then just slid into the host chair (which Sandler doesn't do very easily -- slide, that is) and Don Cheadle from his film "Reign Over Me" (probably the only 9/11 movie I will ever see) stopped by to fill another chair:

Genius!

BTW, at three hours and five minutes, "Reign Over Me" is an outstanding entertainment bargain, so you should go.
