I don't actually watch any TV as it airs, so we'll just make believe that I do for this exercise. And, here we go ...
8 pm
Watching -- How I Met Your Mother & Rules of Engagement (CBS)
Recording -- Chuck (NBC)
Skipping -- 90210 (CWTV), House (Fox), Dancing With the "are they really?" Stars (ABC)
I love my Monday comedies and eat them up first. I don't care that you think I'm lame for watching Rules, it's a funny show made even funnier with last year's cast addition (Adhir Kalyan). Now Jaime Pressly comes on as a surrogate mom for Audrey and Jeff, and that should spice things up for David Spade's Russell character. I'm a Spade fan. Shoot me. Also, Oliver Hudson? Totally doable, and he's funny.
About HIMYM I don't care if Ted meets his wife at all, there's plenty of good stuff going on all the time to distract me from the conceit of the show. Plus as a gay man I'm charged with watching all top shelf gay male actors when they are on TV. Your welcome, Neil.
Recording Chuck. Honestly I didn't catch the last 10 (I know, 10 is a lot) episodes from last season. Hate to tell you this NBC, but I may bail on the show altogether if my love affair with rugby and the Aviva Premiership continues. Sorry, ruggers are hot. Hotter than Zach Levi.
The rest of the evening after the jump. Times are eastern.
Watching -- The Event (NBC)
Recording -- Nothing for the first half hour, then Mike & Molly (CBS) at 9:30
Watching online or on the screener they sent -- Lone Star (Fox)
Skipping -- More DWTS, Gossip Girl
I'm a sucker for a high-pitched serialized drama with conspiracy theory elements like The Event. Also, Laura Innes gets a chance to prove to America that she doesn't have a disability. Bonus! Jason Ritter as everyman fighting the power? I'm in!
I don't record Two And a Half Men, I watch it in syndication and on FX with my dad. Gotta save something for social TV experiences.
Mike & Molly? Overweight people in love? Okay, but I'm glad this isn't an HBO show, I wanna see Billy Gardell naked like I wanna stand in front of a full length mirror naked. Meaning NOT!
I have a rough cut of Lone Star from Fox. Never watched it because I just hate Jon Voight. Hate is a strong word for someone I don't know personally. I would never wanna know Jon Voight personally. Still since I got the screener the show has gotten some excellent reviews so I'll check it out at some point.
By 9 pm, Bristol Palin should be falling in love with the guy she dances with this season. Ten minutes later she should be pregnant. And exactly what makes her a star again?
10 pm
Watching -- Castle (ABC)
Recording -- Hawaii 5-O (CBS)
Skipping -- Chase (NBC)
Castle's back, woo hoo! He is ruggedly handsome isn't he? She's not bad, either.
If you saw the trailer for the premiere you know Rick's in big trouble when we return. Big trouble. No spoilers, but you really wanna catch tonight's episode if you're invested.
New guy for Beckett this season, they're gonna put Victor Webster (most recently Melrose Place) in leather and parade him across the screen, hopefully. His character is a motorcycle rider. A guy can hope, right? BTW ABC, put him in leather but also get him out of it, too, if you know what I mean. This series needs a little sexytime, dontcha think?
Great cast, chemistry just pops, it's all good. Watch it.
I'll record Hawaii 5-O because the reviews have been positive, but if I didn't write this blog I'd probably pass, to be frank.
I'm skipping Chase. I just don't care. The marketing failed.
So that's my Monday night. I didn't include anything from cable/satellite because that's just a ticket to crazyland with so much to watch all over the dial.
Tomorrow's another day. Never thought about it, but that's the most obvious platitude EVER!
