Image above is 11-year-old Steve Moffat reading a Doctor Who novel. Isn't that just the sweetest thing?
Details, from the Paley Center website:
A new era of the legendary BAFTA-winning series, Doctor Who, begins April 17 on BBC America. The iconic series, television's longest-running science fiction program, follows the adventures of the Doctor, the mysterious traveler who, with his human companions, journeys throughout all of time and space, facing a variety of foes and righting wrongs. This latest series from BAFTA-winning writer Steven Moffat sees Matt Smith's debut as the new, Eleventh incarnation of the famous Time Lord alongside a new travelling companion, the enigmatic Amy Pond (Karen Gillan). Together they explore sixteenth century Venice, France during the 1890s, and the United Kingdom in the far future, now an entire nation floating in space. The Paley Center is delighted to welcome Matt Smith, Karen Gillan, and executive producer and lifelong Who-fan Steven Moffat for a screening of the premiere episode and to discuss the newly rebooted series.
In association with BBC America.
Tickets are complimentary courtesy of BBC America, but are very limited, and you must make a reservation.
Members can reserve tickets beginning April 1 at noon.
General Public may reserve beginning April 5 at noon.
Hey, how enigmatic is Amy Pond, anyway? What is it that we don't yet know about her? I do know one thing, she met the Doctor before our series five action starts. What else makes her enigmatic? Dunno. Yet.
Why am I never on the correct coast for stuff like this?
Okay, who's going to this, who will take pics, who will record the thing and when will you send me links so I can share? Lemme know, you know how to find me.
About that new clip, it was shown on CBBC (the kid's BBC channel) just today, I believe, and thanks to someone at YouTube you can watch it by clicking here.
Remember, US Premiere date is April 17, BBC America. Click to their Doctor Who site here.
Haven't I told you all to set your DVRs for Current Vanguard? Huh?
Now, you must. You should be seeing this stuff when it premieres, not when it wins awards, that puts you right in the midst of the zeitgeist.
Again, from the Peabody Awards site, "With tales of drug-dealing MDs in Florida and Appalachian “pill-billies,” the documentary makes clear the enormity of the prescription-drug epidemic."
Hey, I wonder if Druggy Limbaugh has seen this? Remember when he used to send his housekeeper Wilma Cline out to the Denny's parking lot to score his Oxy from drug dealers? Ah, good times, huh?
Watch the whole episode by clicking here.
Note to Florida's Governor, Charlie Crist ... how about crackin' down on this shit, huh? Yeah, just get outta the tanning booth (or the bus station bathroom -- allegedly, allegedly, people!) and do something to stop people from abusing this killer drug.
Dogged work by the Houston station’s investigative reporters found such blatant discriminatory treatment of female soldiers that three top Texas Guard generals were fired and a new commanding officer was appointed.
More, this story from KHOU Channel 11 has also won a duPont/Columbia award and Harvard's Goldsmith Prize for Investigative Reporting.

Congrats to those involved.
Many of the shows we love here at IAmATVJunkie.com (set that bookmark, America) are Peabody winners this year announced today, see this link) and I'll have clips or full episodes for you throughout the day.
First off, our @CraigyFerg, who btw was instrumental in my keeping a reasonably even keel during my recent family tragedy, nothing like a good laugh at the end of the day. But that's not why he's a winner, it's for this interview (LINK to part one of three) with Archbishop Desmond Tutu.
All kinds of love all over the net for that Scottish Conan guy today, and well deserved. I'm sure he would be telling all of us to stop with that damned applause.
Craig talks about the interview to a bookstore audience during the American on Purpose tour, Fora TV has it at their YouTube account in this clip (LINK).
Hottest show in late night, funniest show on CBS (sorry Big Bang Theory, you're a close second) and congrats to all involved.
And, you can imagine that when LL (are we calling him that, or Todd Smith, or James Todd Smith or ... hey, whatever he wants, especially if he takes his shirt off, right?) noticed this hour of Palin, the first for her on Fox Noise, was being promoted on his very v-shaped, very well-muscled back, he took to the equalizer, Twitter.
Danny Shea at HuffPo has the details, which include this Twitter status: "Fox lifted an old interview I gave in 2008 to someone else & are misrepresenting to the public in order to promote Sarah Palins (sic) Show. WOW."
And now he's not gonna be on the show at all.
I thought it was fishy from the get-go, I can't think of one person who's on a primetime series short Craig T. Nelson (has already made a fool of himself on Beck) who would let themselves become a selling point for this hour of fresh meat for the Tea Party crowd.
Betcha he's available. Producers? He's in a series, has something to promote. And ... he could say the most stupid thing I've ever heard someone say on Fox Noise, again. Click that link above to see what idiocy came out of Coach's craw.
Now a little something at the end for Mr. Smith, who stood up to big media doing him a disservice and won (which we like here) ... a preview of his April 6 episode of NCIS: Los Angeles featuring some mixed martial arts superstars Dan Henderson, Gil Melendez, Frank Shamrock, Cung Le, Josh Thompson, KJ Noons and referee Big John McCarthy.
You can click any of the links to the right of this main column and read a bunch of TV posts from my online pals.
I am bidding adieu to the last of my relatives who have come from New York to help us say goodbye to my mom, which we did in a lovely memorial service this past Saturday.
And it's been great seeing everyone, but it's time to get back to trying to find "the new normal" for us and rebuild.
You know, as much as you realize that it's part of the course and scope of life to outlive your parents, when the first one leaves you you're never ready for the way it makes you feel.
If I'm not back tomorrow, it's because today I'm installing a new graphics card and ... it might not go well.
I have these huge hands that don't do these installations well.
See you tomorrow.
These former members, many of whom dedicated their lives to Scientology, allege that the leader of the church, David Miscavige, has used physical violence against a number of Sea Organization members. The church adamantly denies these allegations, and back up their denials with numerous affidavits and testimonials defending Mr. Miscavige and attacking those who are speaking out.
(...)
For the record, I just want to point out that this series is not about the beliefs or activities of the Church of Scientology. It is not about the religion or the vast majority of Scientologists. This series simply has to do with what some former high ranking church officials say went on within the upper management of the church, and what happened to them when they left the church.
So that's the focus of the piece, but of course nothing happens in a vacuum. No one is beating the crap out of Scientologists just for kicks and giggles ... so what IS behind the abuse?
The first thing I think of, as it IS a cult (a religion or religious sect generally considered to be extremist or false, with its followers often living in an unconventional manner under the guidance of an authoritarian, charismatic leader) is that they're pummeling people into submission, breaking down their value systems and rebuilding in a specific manner that reinforces Chuch teaching.
And that would more than touch on the believe and/or activities of the members of the Church.
So, why exactly is Cooper hedging? I dunno, but I will check out his reporting on this. I don't think anything he could say would be more of a hit to the Church than Kirstie Alley's A&E reality show is. I mean, she's certainly not a poster child for the good things that can happen to you if you believe.
The tardis as an extension of the Doctor, explained by the new showrunner and his Doctor.
Seventeen days till the US premiere of the 11th Doctor. Excited?
I'm not sure why I watch this show and honestly I've fallen asleep during it twice, but I like the animation and I enjoy Karl and I attempt to continue to stay awake through each time and I sometimes fail.
Am I conditioned to watch anything Gervais does because I'm told he's a genius all the time? Maybe. I did like Ghost Town, though, and of course Extras, especially the Christmas Special.
I just can't stand The Office. What's wrong with me? I can't stand the original and the US version makes me squirm even more. I'm supposed to like the show, I realize that, but it just isn't happening.

Oh, and a little Paul Bellini, too? Okay, Paul too.
More on this as we get closer. I might even hear from an IFC press person, maybe.
Maybe?
Aw, c'mon IFC, I might be the only blogger writing about your series inventory. Does anyone else write about Ideal or The IT Crowd? Huh?
A little attention is all I'm askin'.
This is great great news.
San Diego Union-Tribune, this morning:
In retrospect, going on the “Dr. Phil” television show to talk about their shoplifting exploits did not — to paraphrase the good doctor — work very well for Matthew and Nora Eaton.
The San Marcos husband and wife, who went on the popular show and trumpeted their moneymaking scheme of shoplifting toys and reselling them on the Internet, were sentenced to prison yesterday by a federal judge.
And Dr. Phil McGraw didn’t get off too easy, either.
Okay. First, Dr. Phil getting off? Not something I wanna think about.
But, here's what the judge, the Hon. Irma Gonzalez, had to say at the Eaton's trial not just about the San Marcos couple but also McGraw.
Gonzalez had little sympathy for Matthew Eaton, calling his conduct in running the scheme over two years “despicable.”
But first she went off on McGraw, the TV psychologist who dispenses help on his syndicated show with such catchphrases as the sharp “Get real!” the disdainful “How’s that working for you?” and the unusual “Did you fall out of the dumb tree?”
“What a charlatan this man is,” the judge said during the hearing. “What a terrible, terrible man.”
Gonzalez was perturbed that McGraw holds himself out as a doctor wishing to help. But, the judge said to Matthew Eaton, “he obviously didn’t help you.”
Matthew Eaton’s lawyer said the couple went on the show seeking help for their chronic shoplifting problem. On the program, however, they came across as bragging about their exploits and not appearing particularly troubled.
Instead of helping them, producers egged them on to exaggerate their cases, said defense lawyer Leila Morgan. And the only help they got was free copies of McGraw’s books, she said.
Charlatan. Terrible. Not my words, this is a judge talking.
I mean, I agree with her, but I would have used more colorful language.

Once again very happy that I don't start watching till they reach the top six. Who will they be? I have no idea, the only name I know from the show is Crystal's, Bowersox is a really memorable last name.
Remember, now that Idol is gone from your Thursday schedule I expect you to return to Community and Parks and Recreation and 30 Rock (if you can't bear The Office like me, that's okay).

As a huge David Tennant fan I am slightly trepidatious but totally excited, too.
Hey, did you know Tennant was a voice in the upcoming How to Train Your Dragon with Gerry Butler and Craig Ferguson?
Have there ever been more Scottish voices in one animated film? I doubt it.
Hey, is this enough video for you? Tell me if you want more and I'll get more. Yes, we are once again on Doctor Who patrol, and it feels great.
Thanks to MikeAlvear.com, where I stole this image above, a still from the clip.

True Blood returns on June 13.
Hey, you guys do understand that about the hashtags in the headline and how Twitter uses them, right? Okay.
Operative word in italics.
Man, it's so hard to separate her from the Church and it's certainly not my fault, she put it into play years ago.
(Plus, and I'll never forget it, during one of the Church's pushback periods against psychiatry during the run of Dharma & Greg, she guested as a wacky psychiatrist that Dharma visited, Jenna Elfman also being a member of the Church.)
This show, Kirstie Alley's Big Life, is supposed to document, I think, the Cheers star's attempt to both start a weight loss company and be it's first success story. (More on the company and some controversy there from Gawker at this link. Also, they're buying sponsored links at the show's IMDB page).
That's quite a task for a woman who invites her morbidly obese handyman (asscrack for days) over on a weekend night to eat. Not like "Hey, you wanna come over for dinner," but more like "Hey, it's after dinnertime, just come over and we'll eat."
The guy, named Jim, seems nice enough, but when she relates that she's brought him here from Florida, my first thought is "Is he from Clearwater?" Because Clearwater is, like, the capital of Xenuland.
More after the jumperoo!
Yeah, I just decided to add a passenger to Meg's plane for fun, she's not in the actual ad. And, despite her loser status, I like Meg Griffin so much more, after all she isn't trying to buy the governor's race in the state where I live.
Plus, I'm just so frickin' sick of the Whitman ads (especially here in the "much more conservative than LA" San Diego market during the local news broadcasts) I swear the other day my TV was off and unplugged and they were still playing. I know I'm not the only Californian who is bitching about another multi-millionaire trying to buy our highest office, but I'm one of the few with a TV blog and the will to complain about it.
Here's the first ad (click here, kids!) from Level The Playing Field 2010 (website link) (YouTube link).
More to come.
Good advice from our Welsh friends, via BBC News:
Firefighters have warned of the dangers of cooking after drinking - and suggested making a sandwich before going out or buying a takeaway. It follows the rescue on Saturday of a man in Llanllechid, near Bangor, Gwynedd, from a fire that started when he fell asleep with the cooker on.
Even if you're not drinking like a Welshman (Craig Ferguson tells me they can put it away) picking up something at the drive-thru is just easier.
Just be careful of police staking out drive-thru windows around the time your local watering holes kick you out. And, obviously, drinking and driving is to be avoided as well as drinking and cooking.
G'day.
So Fox has a new lawman in town, despite his show not being called Lawman (it's original title).
And I guess it's a good thing they renamed it, particularly for me. I guess I wasn't the only person who just assumed a show called Lawman with a lead character in a white cowboy hat would be set in the Old West.
(Though I wasn't really quite sure how old the old in Old West was in my head ... I'm still not sure.)
This is all modern-day US Marshall business, it's just the lead character that's a throwback. Tim Olyphant is great, surrounded with a solid cast including Natalie Zea, who you know I adore from Dirty Sexy Money and Hung (waiting for her to have more to do), Nick Searcy and particularly Water Goggins.
Yeah, I get why everyone raves about the guy now, I just never managed to get into The Shield.
Did you miss it? It reruns on Friday and Sunday nights this week and I'd betcha you can catch it by cruising your on demand menus.
Great ratings, best premiere since The Shield, in fact. More at Multichannel News (LINK).
Another cable drama that will swipe eyes from broadcast TV, though. And, the show will have an easier ride at FX than it would at any of the nets, including shorter season run, less bother from censors and an easier time getting nontraditional storytelling accomplished.
What all this tells me is that the standards and practices of the broadcast networks are not keeping up with the interest of the public in watching shows that actually speak to our current national condition.
What does it tell you? Comment below.
Last night I wrote this post about Spencer Pratt.
The image posted was incorrect. The proper image can be found at this link.
So lemme ask you, is Spencer Pratt (pictured right) lying when he tells you today that he's found a new passion in his life and is going to learn how to prevent cybercrime or was he removed from MTV's The Hills because he threatened to kill a producer on the show?
Zap2It has the details. In fact, they have both Spencer's story and what might be the real reason for his hiatus from the reality show on their site.
I personally still can't get over the news last week that Heidi had ended Spencer's tenure as her manager and replaced him with a "healer" who sells aromatherapy and metaphysically powered bracelets. He'll be charged with "guiding her career."
Isn't that just the best news? Please, Heidi and Aiden, please team up for a massive infomercial. Those sprays and bracelets won't sell themselves you know and the world needs their aromatherapy sprays and semi-precious stone bracelets, don't they.
Spencer heeding Obama's warning about cybercrime and deciding to "get in the game" is as ludicrous as Audrina moving to Switzerland so that she can be closer to the Large Hadron Collider in Geneva.
Meanwhile, Heidi is learning to use her new jaw. Hope it doesn't clamp shut at an inopportune moment.
Nah, I actually hope it does.
When I think of green I think of St. Patrick's Day and I think of Showtime's Weeds. This Uncle Andy clip combines the two. Andy gets you set for the day and looks wasted while doing it, which I think was the reason Justin Kirk was cast. So, are we just waiting for Doug Benson to get a role on this show? I hope so (LINK)

Here's the trailer from Funny Or Die. Do this, it's something good that's good for you and good for kids in Haiti.
This, from the Guardian in the UK:
Kate Winslet and her film director husband Sam Mendes have separated after nearly seven years of marriage, their lawyer announced today.
Keith Schilling of legal firm Schillings, said: "Kate and Sam are saddened to announce that they separated earlier this year. The split is entirely amicable and is by mutual agreement. Both parties are fully committed to the future joint parenting of their children."
He added: "They ask that the media respect the privacy of the family."
Man, I wish I would have copyrighted the phrase "respect the privacy of the family," I'd be rich by now.
And to Kate, btw, a guy named Clayton commenting at Entertainment Weekly just called "dibs" on you. Yeah, Clayton, it's not like riding shotgun in your buddy's car, you don't have a chance.
They lasted seven years. Had a kid between them and Kate has another from her first marriage.
Okay, now about Mildred Pierce on HBO, I say you might as well give her the Emmy statue now. Just do it, hand it to her before she even starts shooting the miniseries and get it done with, because it will be amazing.
For those of you who have no recollection of the film or the James Cain novel, you can learn more about the story at this link or this one. But you really should know about Mildred Pierce, even if you only know of it through the great parody of the movie that the cast of The Carol Burnett Show did back in the day.
The movie was nominated for six Oscars including best picture, best actress (Joan Crawford, who won the award), Ann Blyth (the daughter) and Eve Arden got supporting actress noms.
The HBO cast includes Guy Pearce and will have Evan Rachel Wood in the Blyth role, which should be spectacular.
Might as well give her an Emmy right now, too. It's a juicy role and she loves the juice.
Hey, look who showed up on Sunset at the KTLA studios this AM, it's your favorite fictional LA beat cops from Southland Ben McKenzie and Michael Cudlitz.
And you can watch them by clicking this link.
What I love about these guys promoting the show all over the place? Every time they show up somewhere it gives an entertainment reporter and opportunity to talk about what a jackass Jeff Zucker was for the whole Leno affair. Love that!
(Okay, no one uses the word jackass, but you know they're thinking it.)
These are, btw, new episodes of the show now. The first season shows have been run on TNT and now they get to their new episodes, which unfortunately don't have as much Tom Everett Scott in them as the first but they do have a renewed focus on the Sherman and Cooper characters (McKenzie and Cudlitz -- who is playing gay here and doing it very well and with a nice respect for those of us who don't flounce around -- and Regina King's Lydia character and her new partner played by Amaury Nolasco.
Watch a trailer for this week's new episode (Tuesday at 10 Eastern) at this link and check out the show site at this link. It's a powerful show, and as someone who used to live in the neighborhood that these cops patrol I can tell you it's quite authentic.

Somewhere the woman pictured below is reading this and shaking her head.
Good luck, Katie. See you on the Lifetime Movie Network.
Last night's episode of The Marriage Ref featured Madonna (two divorces), Larry David (misogynist, divorced) and Ricky Gervais (never married).
The creator of the show is a guy who didn't let a little thing like newlywed status (four months) get in the way of him wooing his own wife.
Show lost 21% of it's 18-49 crowd from last week. And that's with the best panel of guests they're gonna have unless they managed to coerce Michelle Obama to play, and that will never happen.
I wanna riff on the "write what you know" theme here, don't you?
Watched some of it, though, just so I could say for the record that I did. Didn't enjoy myself. At all.
Jerry could have walked into a meeting with NBC and sold a test pattern for an hour and it would have been better. Why is he using his power for evil instead of good?
Superman would be very disappointed in him. Superman voiced here by Patrick Warburton. Watch the clip if only for Jerry's comments at the time on reality TV.
I like Tom Papa. I don't like him on this show, but I like him.

I'm actually surprised that Tyra still wants to play this game ... when she announced late last year that she was ending her talk show this year to concentrate of producing films, I thought the Top Model franchise would be the next to go.
Of course I didn't consider Tyra's addiction to talk about herself on TV. I guess this prime time outlet will continue as long as The CW will have her.
My favorite is Tatianna, if only because her real dream (besides modelling of course) is to be a coroner.
Yes, a coroner.
I imagine it will get weird for her when they start taking pics of the crime scene, though, she'll probably want to pose with the chalk outlines.

So adorable that I haven't cut Carrie off for appearing on Red Eye on the Fox Noise Channel, so you know she's just like a cargo ship full o'fluffy bunnies.
Of course, heterosexuals nationwide call her hot, smokin', wankworthy ... Playboy called her the Babe of the Month ... bangin', luscious, heavenly ... that blonde hottie with the great rack ...
... but I just call her my friend ...
... my friend that's on TV tonight at 8 eastern and then again at 11:30 eastern, just in case you miss the first airing.
(And you might have, since I'm posting this after 8 eastern. Sorry, dinner was ready early.)
Wanna see one of the clips she'll play tonight ahead of time? Want it to be a video of a white rapper and Calvin Klein underwear model who now disappoints film critics on a regular basis?
Click here and watch the man who was once Marky Mark and then check out Carrie (also spankworthy, but I prefer Mr. Wahlberg for that) tonight on VH1 Classic, that channel you go by on the way to soft core porn on Cinemax.

Finally, as you can see (because you have eyes) Carrie and Shark Firestone from NGTV have both posed for Adam Bouska's NOH8 campaign raising awareness about how people like me (gay) don't have the same civil rights as people like them (straight) and our efforts to correct that.
More on photographer Adam Bouska at his site at this link. More on supporting the drive to repeal California's Proposition 8 at this link.
Thanks, Carrie. Thanks, Shark.
For those of you who have wanted to have you way with Don Draper, this will take you halfway there.
I say halfway because like all the dolls from Mattel's Barbie Fashion Collection there's that ... ahem ... smooth area down there. Of course, the standard height of the dolls is 11.5 inches, so you could say that you're getting about 12 inches on Don. And I think we'll leave it at that, at least until someone figures out how to make them vibrate.
They'll be for sale at speciality stores, BarbieCollector.com and the AMC Mad Men site.
I must get in touch with The Fine Bros. and let them know, they're the guys who do the Lost parody clips that have gotten so much attention recently.
Yes, I have a clip, but I have to warn you about spoilers. Still, it's an historical drama so I guess there are spoilers all over the place, maybe even in ... your own mind.
Shudder at the thought, I know. Here's the clip, AYOR.
Many of us haven't seen David in something this serious. Sure, he ran the gammut of emotions as the Doctor, but usually that gammut was run in a flash. This is serious stuff.
Few men have ever been catapulted to global superstardom with such suddenness as Albert Einstein. One moment, he was a professor in Berlin, known among his peers but pursuing ideas about the nature of gravity that were understood by only a handful; the next, he was the most famous scientist in the world, perhaps the most famous man in the world.
For this, he owed the discipleship of Arthur Eddington, the first and most loyal supporter of his General Theory of Relativity. The paradox is that before Einstein’s overnight introduction to fame in 1919, the two men had never met and were in many respects polar opposites: Einstein was a non-believer, a bohemian with an eye for the ladies; Eddington was a straitlaced Quaker who lived with his sister and constantly struggled to square science and God. One was a dreamer of genius; the other an experimentalist devoted to careful measurement and empirical truth.
The TV film was co-produced by Company Pictures and HBO Worldwide for BBC2 (transmitted in 2008). It premieres on March 23rd at 9 pm and then, as is there way, reairs throughout the end of March on HBO Signature.
(I got really lucky with that headline, huh?)
BBC News has details this AM on the Doctor Who bus tour. Bus tour? Yes, one can do such things in the UK, it's ... smaller (but also wonderful, not that I know, although I'm still waiting for the Wales tourism office to lavish me with an all-expenses paid journey to the land of BBC Cymru).
Tour stops will be in Belfast, Inverness, Sunderland, Salford and Matt Smith's native Northampton.
(No word on whether the Salford stop will include a meet 'n' greet with Moz, Nicki, Cartoon Head and the gang on Ideal, though I'm sure that would be very trippy for them. Aw, who am I kidding ... they probably would all chalk it up to whatever chemicals they did the night before.)
Each city will host a screening of the first episode of series five with Matt Smith and Karen Gillan for local children and their very fortunate parents.
(Damn, I forgot to have children.)
The best, most complete details come, as usual, from the Doctor Who News Page, and you should have that bookmarked already. You don't? Do it now, click here and get it done. There you'll find info on more preview screenings ... in the UK ... so apparently you won't see me there.
Breaking news from Craig's most recent tweet, the Grant Imahara-creation that is Craig's robot skeleton sidekick will debut on the show April 5th.
His name is Geoff Peterson. The spelling of his first name indicates that Geoff might be Canadian.
How do you build a Canadian robot skeleton sidekick?
I dunno, more as this develops.
Ass mode. Always in ass mode here.
Costner, big in Germany? Really? From last October, a fan-shot clip. Yes, apparently this band of his called Modern West has fans (LINK)

One of the actors from the US pilot for UK Channel 4's Spaced put some of the footage on YouTube. Features Sara Rue. Glad this didn't make air, though, as the original (which is on Hulu, btw) is all one needs (LINK)
The Catherine Tate Show's Christmas special this year was called Nan's Christmas Carol, and here's the bit with David Tennant as the Ghost of Christmas Present (LINK)
Andy Whitfield, 36, the star of the Starz series Spartacus: Blood and Sand, is reportedly receiving treatment for non-Hodgkins Lymphoma in New Zealand, just as the cast and crew were beginning to ramp up for season two, which had been greenlighted by Starz even before the first episode aired.
The Welsh-born Whitfield is married (wife Vashty in photo above) and has two children and lives in Australia.
This news will obviously affect the show's shooting schedule. Nothing from Starz yet on their plans. It was just noted today at DigitalSpy.com that the show sold to the Bravo in the UK, no word on whether this affects that deal or any others in the pipeline.
Starz has put out a release that you can read after the jump.

I get the joke, Heidi making a pitch for gov't regulation of credit cards (after she bought those 10 procedures on her plastic). But, Speidi has always supported Rethuglican causes in the past, and this is hardly a Rethuglican cause.
In fact the vast majority of those on the right object to any regulation of the banking or credit industries. Why? Because that's where their campaign money comes from.
Yes, also people on the left, but mostly the right.
Watch the clip here. Click over to the site set up by the proponents of the Consumer Financial Protection Act at this link.
Finally, the number in the image above is for you to call Richard Shelby and Chris Dodd, two senators key in this bill's passage, and also in the tub above. Call them.
Now.
And I'm sorry I made you look at the horrifying plastic surgery victim. I owe you one.
This is Roy Orbison.
This is Michael Sheen. It's a particularly good photo of Sheen (isn't he scrummy?) but I digress.
This may be the only blog post you ever see that references both of them. It was Sheen, a recent guest on "the hottest show in late night" who told Craig Ferguson (watch the clip here, it happens at about 6:40) and in turn all of us about the work of Ulrich Haarbürste, who writes fiction about his terrapin Jetta and wrapping the late singer-songwriter Roy Orbison in clingfilm.
(Clingfilm = Handi Wrap, Glad Wrap, etc.)
(There's a novel, too, but I haven't gotten around to ordering it yet.)
These stories are not to be missed. I have clicked over to Ulrich's site every day since Sheen mentioned it on air. The stories have a certain something about them that should not be missed.
There is also animated video at YouTube based on one of the stories. Haven't watched it yet, I thought we might do that together. Click here for that.
And again, many thanks to Michael Sheen. I am still indescribably fascinated with this work.
Conan in San Diego, April 29th and I'm planning on being there.
Date was announced in the Union-Tribune this AM but no show page yet at Ticketmaster, so I'm listening to the SD Civic Theatre recording right now to see if they say anything about it.
They don't.
I don't need to sit in Conan's lap ... okay, I need to sit in Conan's lap. When do THOSE tickets go on sale?
Actually, I try to sit at best two-thirds back in the orchestra section so as not to block too many audience members with my massive head and enormous height.
So, I'm on Conan detail today ... will let you know how that works out.
Some acknowledgements need to be made before I move on, and here is where I'm doing it. Thank you, everyone who send their kindest words my way on the occasion of my mother's recent death. It was very much appreciated.
Comfort comes from expected and unexpected places these days. On of the things I have to do is get back to the business of the things I do regularly and one of those things is this blog.
Unexpectedly, I found this moment clipped out below from a recent episode of Caprica on Syfy made me feel much better. I'm sure it's something that keys into my Catholic upbringing and how rituals can provide a sense of closure. In any event, I thought I'd thank show creator Jane Espenson and episode writer Kath Lingenfelter for that.
Watch it below. I'll be back tomorrow.
