Oh, just watch the thing, if only for Pauly D's British accent.

I live at the Jersey Shore and my husband was actually at the bar one of the nights they were shooting and ir was all set up. The people in the show are actors. They are not locals. And while we have a few scattered people around who act like that, I'm sure we have no more than anyone else. Most of the really annoying people who are at the shore are the tourists-LOL The locals don't often start bar rights-its the PA & NY people who come down in the summer.

Gabby, we all get that they're not locals, but the whole idea of Seaside Heights being a place where Italian-American kids from the NY Metro area go to party during the Summer wasn't invented by MTV, it's common knowledge.
Are they actors? No, certainly not, you just have to watch the clip above to know that. But I will give you this, there's a kind of person that does seek out "reality show" fame in this day and age and I'm sure many of the Jersey Shore kids think they're gonna be big stars (well, not big but "Spencer Pratt big" at least) because they were first seen on this show.
