This is something you never wanna hear, not just for the producers and staff but just in general.
From an excerpt from the statement from NBC-Uni to THR:
(snip)
"Start of production on NBC Universal's new series 'Parenthood' has been postponed for eight weeks due to medical evaluation that valued cast member Maura Tierney is undergoing," NBC said in a statement. "The top priority for NBC, Universal Media Studios and Imagine Television is the well-being of Ms. Tierney. We are unable to release further details and ask that you respect her privacy at this time."
Tierney is cast in, if you actually have a frame of reference that includes the film version, the Dianne Wiest role. Kind of. There are changes from the film, which is fine. Actually, better than fine it's preferred. Not that the movie version wasn't wonderful; it was, I've seen it a number of times. Some distance will be nice, though.
Of course, think good positive thoughts and direct them toward Maura Tierney, one of my favorite actresses. If it's serious enough to change a network schedule it's ... serious.
