Hey gang, it's the easy and fun way to tip your hat at the gay and lesbian community that doesn't alienate gay-averse fanboys!
All you gotta do is make your hot chick a lesbian and ... no worries, right?
Wrong.
This is ridiculous, especially coming from Heroes where they quashed a gay storyline involving Claire's high school pal (remember Zach, played by Thomas Dekker, who was supposed to come out to Claire in the first season until everyone (including Dekker and his management) got cold feet?
Girl on girl is hot. Boy on boy sends you down the Nielsen ladder.
How fucking lame is that? Like Tim Surette said at TV.com, it's cheap. And these writers should be aiming higher, much higher.
Not to be outdone, The CW has enlisted Rumer Willis to walk into the zip code of her upbringing (90210) and lay down some sapphic smack as well. This today from 90210 star AnnaLynne McCord (E! Online):
McCord said she doesn't know what Willis' storyline entails but wouldn't mind being a part of it.
"This is what I foresee," she said. "Naomi gets drunk, and she gets a little crazy. Liam's watching. Naomi wants to experiment. And then a little lip-on-lip action with Rumer Willis can't hurt anybody, right?
"How fabulous would that be," she continued. "They totally need to make it happen!"
I think I hear an actress dying for some additional attention, don't you?
And, btw, can we stipulate that Rumer Willis would not be getting acting parts if she were just some girl from the Valley? Can you say nepotism hire?
I thought you could.
