UPDATED: Watch the "Interns" Webisode -- Scrubs is Back Tonight on ABC with Cox, Ansari
Okay, I'm not quite sure what the deal is here, whether these webisodes are just a good marketing idea (like those Heroes webisodes sponsored by that phone company that I don't mention because I HATE branded programming) or if this is someone's attempt to introduce new characters for a potential new class of interns.
Whichever it is, the lead female in this webisode, Sunny, is of Indian descent (as in not Native American but Asian Indian) and while John Dorian spent summers at theatre camp, this girl was a double major in pre-med and film.
Thus, the webisode, and it's at this link. I would post it here, but ABC has decided to go to a different system for embedding these things and it doesn't work for me.
But the big story is the series, the episode, coming back tonight with guest star Courteney Cox, previously discussed here.
And there's more, the possibility floated in the press recently that the show could survive the departures of creator Bill Lawrence and star Zach Braff.
So, two episodes tonight, with a lousy lead-in, this unscripted Homeland Security scare-a-thon show. ABC doesn't seem to get how to schedule half hour comedies anymore.
This show and Sam Who? need appropriate lead-ins.
From Bill Lawrence's blog entry today:
That sounds just like Christa's character Jordan talking to Perry. Life, imitating art (and then imitating life I surmise)?
As you watch the webisode you'll see Sunny show you a pic of Aziz Ansari. He guests on the first two eps of the season as an intern named Ed. I have no other details.
I do know he's still booked for the Amy Poehler series co-starring Rashida Jones.
