Ellen & Portia Engaged!

Ellen_portia

Ellen, always committed in a quiet and dignified way to marriage equality. Thing is, it's too bad she couldn't be as committed to the Writers Guild.

Yeah, I'm still pissed about that. No, I haven't watched her show since. No, I won't be in the future. And yes, I do wish her marriage and all the newly engaged (how about you, Amber and Dawn? I'm waiting for an invite!!!) all the best.

NKOTB on Today "Live on the (Raining) Plaza"

Nkotb

Just in case you missed it. And no, I don't have a favorite. And no, that doesn't mean I love them all equally. This just wasn't my thing.

Putting the clip after the jump like the nice people at Typepad told me to, and let's hope this blog starts loading faster really soon.

Joss' Dollhouse Trailer: "This is Cutting Edge Science In a House Full of Hot Chicks!"

Dollhouse_cast_2

And there's already a fansite. The link to that site is right here (and thanks for the pic).

And the trailer is after the jump. Sorry, trying to keep the homepage relatively clear of embeds, it slows the download.

Another clip, from the website Seat 42F, is at this link.

Yes, that is Tahmoh Penikett from BSG (above, far left). How cool is that?

UPDATE: Fox has two clips at YouTube and after the jump I have them for you in a custom player, because I care like no other blogger about your seeing them.

Just a menschy thing to do, especially since the previous trailer I had broke down practically the moment I posted it.

Watch the Best Moment of TV News EVER!!!! Matthews Smacks Down Conservative Radio Host

Conservative clown Kevin James (not the TV star) doesn't know what he's talking about.

At all. Matthews at his best.

More on this Kevin James guy from the LA Times' Opinion LA blog. He was at a press conference being held by a crime victim and unlikely LA mayor candidate Walter Moore:

Also speaking at the event were KRLA radio personality Kevin James and the young victim's father, Jamiel Shaw Sr.

James called for audience members to support Moore's campaign financially. "It's really expensive to run for mayor of Los Angeles against a former gang member who is the incumbent," James said.

Villaraigosa was not a gang member, but the claim that he was has become popular among illegal immigration opponents.

This guy just doesn't seem to know anything at all! I wonder if he answers to his own name?

I'm putting the clip after the jump, trying to clean up the homepage.

Little Gems From the AP On the Fox Schedule

Fox_logoRead the whole article at this link.

Little Gem #1:

Fox will bring only two new series on the air in the fall, traditionally its slow season, but plans flashy two-hour season premieres of four programs during the same August week as the Democratic National Convention.

(snip)

"Fringe," "Bones," "Prison Break" and "Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader" will open the fall season the week of Aug. 25.

They should not conflict with major moments of the convention because political planners try to time them after 10 p.m. on the East Coast, when the Fox shows will be over, said Peter Liguori, Fox entertainment chairman. Fox is avoiding any conflict on Thursday, when the party's nominee gives an acceptance speech.

I know what they're saying, but I'd still be watching to see if they try to pull people away from what should be the speech of the century from Obama.

Little Gem #2:

A new comedy, "Do Not Disturb," is set in one of Manhattan's trendiest hotels. It replaces the canceled "Back to You" (the wife of disappointed star Kelsey Grammer is encouraging an Internet petition to get it back).

So, there wasn't a fan of the show that was willing to take on the task? Kelsey's wife, the former Club MTV dancer and Playboy model had to create the petition? Aw, that's just precious.

Not gonna work, but precious still. The show might even be too expensive for CBS to pick up. After all, those big names come with big salaries.

And really, Camille, I saw the house in Architectural Digest, do you really need the money?

Personally, any chance to prevent Grammer and Heaton from working and handing more of "our" money over to bad right-wing causes should be taken.

With relish.

Fox Sci-Fi Pickups: Whedon & Abrams Yes, Ron Moore Held Till 2009

Jj_abramsIt looks like they will be the place for the scifi debuts in the Fall, though the Ronald D. Moore (BSG) penned Virtuality will be held for next season.

That's fine with me, as he his a lot on his plate with the Caprica prequel for SciFi (which is already being cast with, among others, Esai Morales as Joe Adama and Eric Stoltz (most notable in my head for being the male version of Molly Ringwald -- down to the hair color -- in Some Kind of Wonderful).

THR.com:

The Abrams thriller "Fringe," about a trio who explore paranormal mysteries, will have a two-hour premiere on Tuesday, Aug. 26. The show will then settle into its regular time period at 9 p.m. after "House." "We have high expectations for this," Reilly said. "We'll have huge campaign for it."

About the show from Variety:

"Fringe" mixes elements of "The X-Files" and Paddy Chayefsky's "Altered States" with what Abrams calls "a slight 'Twilight Zone' vibe." It will focus on brilliant but possibly crazy research scientist Walter Bishop, his estranged son and a female FBI agent who brings them together.

Episodes will explore self-contained mysteries of the paranormal, as well as the relationships between the three leads.

"So much of the story is relatable people in extraordinary situations," Abrams said. "The show is definitely a nod to 'Altered States' and 'Scanners' and that whole Michael Crichton/Robin Cook world of medicine and science."

Details on Whedon's Dollhouse, starring Eliza Dushku (love that name) after the jump.

Your Current President: An Arrogant, Shameless, Corrupt, Lying Fool

BushassholeCompares Barack to Nazi appeasers in a speech in Israel.

He really does need to STFU! Keith is right.

Thing is, Bush's own religion and his religious allies only supports Jews in the Holy Land because scripture says they need to be there so that the Rapture can happen. They don't really care what happens to them afterward.

Personally, I think anyone who thinks they're gonna be sucked out of their clothes by a supernatural deity has some issues they need to address outside the auspices of faith.

Wait just a few minutes and Joe Lieberman will probably just come right to your front door and tell you that Michelle Obama is Eva Braun. When he does, kick him in the balls for me, will you?

More from John at Americablog at this link.

The thing is, the hard right gov't in Israel just eats this stuff up, they don't seem to mind that their allies in the Evangelical community are just supporting them as a means to their own ends. The Israeli Jews who bask in the glow of this support just don't seem to care, including the Lieberman types.

Makes me sick to my stomach that after all these centuries we're still doing this stupid shit.

THR.com Video -- ABC's Two New Series, Just Two

Life_on_mars_us_firstlook_2

You can just watch Marc Berman from Mediaweek and James Hibberd from the Reporter talks. They were there, after all.

I'll have comments after the jump.

And yes, either Marc Berman is a giant or James Hibberd would fit in your pocket. I'm not really sure.

UPDATE: Sorry, I had to put the clip after the jump, I'm pretty sure it's the thing that's slowing down the loading of my homepage.
