Just a Short Progress Note

I keep getting sidetracked, but I have watched the BSG miniseries and the first five eps of the first season (up to You Can't Go Home Again).

Great TV. But, for those of you who watched this, I have to say that it's getting kinda tired, Scott Ian being right about everything all the time.

So, that's what I'm doing with all my free time. And it's not like there isn't a dearth of people blogging about TV, there's plenty to read out there.

(Actually, I've been working on some other things as well, totally unrelated, and when that's done I'll be back.)

Here's the Deal, I'll Be Back When I've Finished BSG Season One

Hey, folks, I have some actual writing for profit to do, and I got my hands on a used BSG first season DVD, so I'm gonna do that for a day or a half or so and I'll be back after that.

Sorry, sometimes other deadlines get in the way.

Not to worry, I will return.

Go outside and get some fresh air.

One of Those Days

Stuff came up. Sorry.

If I owe you something, I'll make it up to you tomorrow.

Video -- Littering Sitcoms with Stuntcasting, Part Deux, Paris Hilton on Earl

Before I say anything else about Paris, don't forget to click below and vote for Nikki to be Paris' BFF.

Okay, now that we've got that out of the way, there will be no discussing the travesty that was Britney on HIMYM last night. At least Paris is playing herself, in Earl's dream sequence.

FemaleFirst.co.uk:

The show's executive producer Greg Garcia joked: "When we wrote the role of Paris Hilton in the script, we weren't exactly sure who to go with for the role. But after an exhausting search we finally settled on a relatively unknown actress by the name of Paris Hilton."

Interview clip after the jump.

Fred Thompson, Back to Hollywood Where Working is Optional

Fred_jeri_thompsonYeah, Fred found out pretty quickly that you can't be President just by showing up and saying words slowly with a slight Southern lilt.

Then again, that's perfect for being Fred Thompson, actor who plays himself almost every time out. And so he and his child bride are back for more of your entertainment dollar. Fortunately for L&O fans, his old job is already taken.

Reuters:

Former Republican presidential hopeful Fred Thompson is returning to his career as an actor and signed a deal to be represented by the William Morris Agency, the talent group said on Monday.

Thompson, a former U.S. senator from Tennessee, is best known in the entertainment world for portraying New York District Attorney Arthur Branch on the television crime drama "Law & Order," but has appeared in numerous films and TV shows over the years.

CBS -- Thinking We Want Our Characters to Be Rich ... While We're Not?

I know I said I wouldn't write about pilot orders again, and I've of course already broken that rule, and I'm gonna break it again, because I found these two announced simultaneously on the Hollywood Reporter site and it made me think.

Two pilots, two attractive young stars, two characters both doing very well in the money area.

In Single White Millionaire, Family Guy producer Ricky Blitt didn't have to go very far (and he can't you know, because he doesn't drive -- we've discussed his lack of a license here before ) to find inspiration. I'm sure Seth MacFarlane hanging out nearby for the last few years has been all the research he needed.

And Amy Smart plays what's called "a wealthy young gallery owner" in her drama pilot, Meant to Be's.

Video -- Extended Trailer for The Hills Season Three Makes Me Feel Dirty

Why? Because I am whoring this space on the web out for my own bemusement, that's why.

I wish the kids from America's Best Dance Crew would invade Lauren Conrad's life and show her what it's like to be talented and not famous, since she has the not talented and famous thing down so well.

Brody, dude, run like hell away from these chicks, and tell your dad that his wife is making a fool of him on that big ass, sex tape-inspired Kardashian show on E!

One more thing, who the hell is Heidi Montag, again?

Buffy Reunion Video From Paley Center Event, Whedon Talks About More

Buffy_reunion

More? Yes, more. But before you get all prickly with excitement, think about all the schedules that would have to be arranged just so, just so they could all be available.

If you think that's easy, check out the IMDB pages of all your components, including Sarah, Seth, Alyson, etc. in front, and then Joss and the writers and directors and all the rest behind the camera. We're talking a major undertaking.

There would also need to be a media company willing to go back to the well. I'm guessing the first right of refusal goes to Twentieth TV, and although Joss is working on a series for them and the Fox network right now with another alum, Eliza Dushku (love her last name) it guarantees nothing.

So, don't get your metaphoric panties in a bunch about this. Yet.

I'll stay on this.

Speaking of SMG, I'm going out and buying Southland Tales is week on DVD. I loved Donnie Darko (though it freaked me out, maybe I loved it because it freaked me out) and on film is the only way I wanna see a post-apocalyptic Southern California.

Clip after the jump is from the Hollywood Reporter homepage.
