I got both of them for you, but first ... (ABC via TheFutonCritic.com):
Production has begun in New York on "Cupid," a new romantic dramedy coming to ABC this season.
In "Cupid," Trevor is a larger than life character who may or may not be the Roman god of love, Cupid. Trevor insists that he was sent to earth to bring couples together. As fate would have it, he is under the care of famous psychologist and self-help author Dr. Claire Allen, who is also dedicated to helping lonely hearts find their soul mates. While she agrees with his cause, she questions whether he's crazy or really is Cupid.
The series stars Bobby Cannavale ("Will & Grace") as Trevor, Sarah Paulson ("Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip") as Claire, Rick Gomez ("What About Brian") as Felix and Camille Guaty ("Las Vegas") as Lita.
Rob Thomas ("Veronica Mars") serves as executive producer/writer, along with executive producers Jennifer Gwartz ("Good Behavior," "Veronica Mars"), Danielle Stokdyk, ("Good Behavior," "Veronica Mars"), Dan Etheridge ("The Nines") and Diane Ruggiero ("Dirty Sexy Money," "Veronica Mars"). "Cupid" is produced by ABC Studios.
After the jump, watch Piven and Cannavale in essentially the same role in YouTube clippage. Forget that Jeremy Piven is thought to be by many one of the most bothersome and loathesome individuals in all of entertainmentdom. If you can put that out of your head, you might be able to make a decent comparison. As you know, I love the Paula Marshall, it's one of the things that keeps me returning to Gary Unmarried. And I'll certainly give the Sarah Paulson a second chance, I just didn't like Studio 60.

LOL! So funny that you found my Cupid clip!
I loved that series. I think I uploaded the clip for a blog post somewhere. I used that one because, like most boys my age I lusted Sherilyn Fenn in Twin Peaks.
I heard about the re-make. Fundamentally I hate the idea of re-makes, but just say Battlestar Galactica to me and the argument's busted. Actually it's not. Re-makes CAN work - but the original has to have been crap, but with a killer premise that was never fulfilled. Re-making a classic can never work. Nope, can't think of an exception...
Bobby Cannavale is clever casting, though. Looks and behaves a bit like Piven, and I loved him in The Station Agent. The big problem here, though, is the casting of Claire. I heart Paula Marshall, she's so utterly adorable as Dr Claire and she's the definition of the girl you want to marry. Sarah Paulson could act her bobby socks off and give an Emmy-worthy performance, but I'd never have that feeling for her.
Sorry, I have a bad gut feeling about this.
ps I didn't know that Paula Marshall was in Gary Unmarried, I'll check it out, thanks.
pps I'm currently being sucked into repeats of the Gilmore Girls. It's terrific, I'm amazed it's been off my radar. Isn't Lauren Graham fabulous?! Why is she not on more stuff?

Stu, the world asks the same question. You'll be happy to know that Lauren is upcoming in a film with Matthew Perry.
I just read that she turned down a really high profile role in something, though.
Oh, that's right, she turned down the remake of Cupid!
