Sunday's Around the Horn is an All Whoniverse Edition!

Who_christmas_mickey_rose_doc_jackie

All Doctor Who, Torchwood and Sarah Jane today. Because I'm a geek for Russell T. Davies.

First up, big stuff going on above the Torchwood hub at the Millenium Centre in Cardiff:

Torch_s3_gwen Wales Online:

A film crew spent most of the weekend transforming the area outside Wales Millennium Centre into a huge explosion crater.

Fans gathered to watch as filming got under way during the day on Monday and overnight on Tuesday and Wednesday.

An onlooker said: “At night it’s been quite eerie because the whole of WMC seems to vanish behind the smoke. They set fire to the crater and it just looks like a battle zone.

“It’s all to do with Torchwood’s hub. Something has happened to that unit base and there’s a massive crater in front of it.

And, Wales Online has a photo gallery of all the goings on. Click this link and then use the dropdown menu to find "Torchwood Filming Cardiff Bay."

Sarah_jane_adventures_cast Wired Magazine's Underwire blog reports that filming will complete next week and the 5-parter will air in the UK in early 2009.

Next, if you're a Facebook member, it's been practically moments since I suggested that you join the Doctor Who Series Four Finale Support Group -- Journey's End, maintained by my friend Ty Davies (no relation).

Because you get all kinds of interesting info from Ty in his regular messages to members. Right now on the page, fans are recounting their experiences standing in line at booksellers across the UK to get RTD to sign their copy of The Writer's Tale, his new book. And, there's a chat room for the page as well, at this link.

Den of Geek tells the story of a Sontaran costume fitting problem on Sarah Jane, and more, including:

David Tennant was to appear in the opening episode (in a sub-plot which would explain why K9 was not to appear in the show) but, at the time of recording the commentary (May 2008), this idea was binned. Julie Gardener states "it could still happen".

Tardis_large J.J. Abrams, the creator of Fringe (and too many other things you love to mention), answers a question during a live chat at the Guardian UK website on the 6th, and it goes like this:

You have never been seen in the same room as Doctor Who reinvigorator Russell T Davies- are you actually the same person?

If you aren't (and the jury is still out), would you like to director or script an episode of Doctor Who?

from - Sydney2K

JJ - It would be an honour to be asked to participate in Doctor Who. They are doing a spectacular job. That is not to say I am not already involved as Doctor Who! It would be a wonderful thing and I am a fan. If Russell would ever like to direct anything in my place I would be equally honoured.

And finally, after the jump, one of my favorite Whoniverse fan clip makers on YouTube, Timan Fan Vids, with a clip that uses a lot of Journey's End and a great song. It's after the jump.
