Hef Tells AP: "If Holly Says It's Over, I Guess It's Over," But Did They Try to Conceive?
AP:
Hefner was surprised to hear Madison discussing their breakup, but acknowledged he knew a split was imminent after he told Madison that they would never wed or have children.
In a video posted on TMZ.com Tuesday, Madison said she's no longer with Hefner. She also said she is "still filming stuff together" with Wilkinson and Marquardt.
Hefner said Madison learned the pair would never have children or get married six months ago, adding: "The fact that she was depressed after that, I didn't know at all. That was a revelation in the last days and weeks. Quite frankly, we thought when the time came, we would make a combined statement and we expected that combined statement would be somewhere in the weeks and months ahead."
Weeks and months ahead, or never? As weird as it might seem that a 28-year-old would be interested in marrying Hef (with or without a prenup, and he's 82) and having his children, she seemed to be interested in just that.
However, the thing is that no one really believes the conceit.
Which makes it all the more weird. And kind of hard to write about. 'Cause there's so much about which to comment.

Interesting, in this piece in the Telegraph UK, it says that Holly and Hef were actually trying to have a child and they failed:
The 82-year-old said his failed efforts to have a baby with Madison, 28, contributed to the split.
Despite the 54-year age gap, Hefner said he had "planned to spend the rest of my life with Holly", adding that he was "down in the dumps" about the break-up: "I was road kill a couple of weeks ago."
He explained: "We tried to have a baby earlier this year and it didn't work out. She became very depressed."
So what's the deal? Did Hef not want to have another child or is one or both of them incapable? These somewhat conflicting stories don't help sort this out.
The show continues on E! Watched it last night, in fact. It's great TV to have on why you're doing something else. And there is cause for just having something on the TV when you're doing something else, sometimes.
And I enjoy Bridget. I think she and I would be good friends.
