Who? A Former Beauty Queen? A Member of Patricia Heaton's Feminists For Life?
Runner-up for Miss Alaska (check out the headshot below), then again, there aren't a whole lot of women in the state, are there.
Isn't being a beauty queen bit of a celebrity thing, by the way? I mean, is it any more than looking pretty and walking around? That sounds a lot like Paris and Britney to me, old man McCain.
Feminists for Life member -- that doesn't mean she's a feminist for the rest of her life, it means she thinks being a feminist means giving decisions about her medical care to the overwhelmingly male presence in government. It also means she's a member of a group that includes America's least favorite TV actress, Heaton, (so least favorite that Family Guy used her as the butt of a joke).
Mostly, Feminists for Life, however, seems to say that they know best. About you and your reproductive health issues. Because God told them they were right. Not God, actually, but the voices in their heads they think is God talking to them.
And, they claim to be anti-violence and pro-life in every area, but this woman seems to have seen her way clear to sending her oldest son to Iraq to fight George Bush's war of choice against the people who didn't attack us on 9/11.
Above, look at the company she keeps. Next to her on her right is Don Young, the Rethuglican Senator from Alaska who with Ted Stevens decided that it was okay to take money, materials and favors from an oil company, which is against the law.
Oh, and the other guy? Someone who has taken his 9/11 experience at the
WTC and turned it into a for-profit speaking career. Nice. Wonder if he
gives any of that money to those who are providing medical care to the
9/11 rescuers who are now suffering from cardio-pulmonary disease?
Things I wanna know immediately ...
- She has a nanny, obviously, and is she an American citizen?
- Does she have any connection with the energy company that is so buddy buddy with Young and Ted Stevens?
- She claims executive experience, but is the budget of the state of Alaska really big enough that the experience transfers to the national stage?
- Why didn't she win the Miss Alaska contest? Did she have a double-sided tape or spray tan violation?
I think it's time to find out this and much more. But compared to Joe Biden, this woman is just a fleck to be brushed off. I'm not impressed.
This guy on MSNBC is calling her an energy expert. Wonder who much money the oil companies have to give you so that you can have that designation. All the other Alaskan politicians have gotten something from energy companies, why not her?

By the way, just listening to her invoke Ferraro and Hillary in her speech made me laugh. While they were fighting for the right to choose, Sarah Palin was readying her talent portion for her beauty contest.
