Jay Leno's Last Tonight Show is June 29, 2009

AP:

"We really believe in the decisions we've made with our partners, including Jay" and are standing by them, Silverman replied.

Jimmy Fallon is poised to take over O'Brien's "Late Night" in March or April of 2009, after honing his approach in brief Internet shows, Silverman and Graboff said.

Well, I'm glad Ben believes in this decision, because at least one person should, dontcha think?

Not that I'm any fan of Jay's, but he does manage to get you people to tune in. I'm really not sure why you do that, but that's what the TV biz is about. And let's face it, how many hits does NBC have these days? They have some well-reviewed shows but the eyes go elsewhere on the dial.

And I'm really not interested in staying up until 12:37 AM to see Jimmy Fallon laugh at his own jokes.

I am interested in seeing what possible changes to the Conan format look like when he moves to the early timeslot, but lately I have to admit I've been much more interested in what Craig Ferguson has to say than Conie-Onie.

This daypart is in serious flux and some network making a couple of the right moves could take it over. If ABC gets Jay and moves Jimmy back to the late spot I think they win.

We'll now place the new Leno Leaves countdown clock that I've made at Google in the left hand column and, well , count down the days, natch.

And what of Jay? Well, if he wants to drop me a line, I have the perfect pitch for him. Even though I'm not really a fan, I think this could work.
