Old Christine, How I Met ..., Rules ... Renewed by CBS

But the Hollywood Reporter is having such a good time watching The New Adventures of Old Christine, they only think it's the end of the first season (see above). It's actually technically the third.
Me? Not so much. I checked out on the series after only a couple eps. I know, I know, for a guy who's always screaming about the dearth of comedy in primetime I do manage to come up with enough reasons not to watch some of them. Some of those reasons (Patty Heaton and Kelsey Grammer in Back to You) are good ones. Some are better (like how Two and a Half Men is just not funny).
In this case, I just thought it was weird that Julia's character on this show owned a gym and didn't seem like the kind of woman who would even have time to put a bandage on a cut, let alone worry about fitness.
And I don't like the ex-husband and new Christine.
Interesting, if CBS didn't renew, ABC was ready to scoop it up. Between this news and the Scrubs pickup by ABC (which is now official) I think you gotta see that comedy is gonna make a comeback, and I couldn't be happier.
I hope my comedy writing friends will start getting jobs working on the sitcoms they deserve (or the ones they're pitching to the networks, anyway).
And to tip my hat to a previous comment on the blog by Stu Arnott, I will admit to being happy about the HIMYM pickup despite the fact that they might have gotten there on the back of an aging pop tart.
