2 3 Clips -- McCain's Religion Problem May Turn Out to Be That He Has None
I'll have the clip later, as I'm watching Olbermann and Richard Wolffe from Newsweek bandy the issue about right now.
So, McCain has all kinds of problems, the "not being there for the new GI bill" vote, the Charlie Black problem (he makes money from lobbying the US gov't for some of the cruelest regimes on Earth), the "I used a promise of federal money to get myself some money in violation of federal law" problem, the "I use my rich wife's jet at her expense and I don't declare it" problem ...
... and then there's the endorsing preacher problem, and it comes in two parts.
First up is John Hagee (who is pictured there above with McCain). He's taken back the endorsement and McCain has given it back to him, all at the same time, conveniently enough. After the jump, how McCain thought he was doing himself a favor, but he really wasn't.
So, this is what McCain says about his unendorsement today (CNN):
"I have said I do not believe Sen. Obama shares Rev. Wright's extreme views. But let me also be clear, Rev. Hagee was not and is not my pastor or spiritual adviser, and I did not attend his church for 20 years. I have denounced statements he made immediately upon learning of them, as I do again today," McCain said.
Okay, so who has McCain been looking to for religious guidance for the past twenty years. Is it Rod Parsley (right)? Because basically, the clip below is Rod Parsley in a nutshell.
[UPDATE: Now McCain is rejecting Parsley, too. So, the question remains, who are the religious figures that McCain thinks are okay now? Because I still don't think that he actually has a church that he's a member of or a Pastor that he could call his own. And the Republicans don't like to vote for "godless heathens."]
Here's the segment from Countdown just earlier.
So, John McCain, where's your religion coming from? Because Republican voters wanna know. And on top of that, we'd all like to know what kind of God is telling you that not voting yes on the new GI Bill is something He thinks is a good thing. Because you are expecting those GIs to travel a long way just to get maimed or worse, and it would be a very good thing for this country to retrain its vets so that they can take care of their families for years to come.
Hey, reader, are you still considering voting for Grandpa?
I certainly don't care if McCain goes to church or synagogue or if he goes to the Barnsdall Art Park in LA to meet Nina Hagen for UFO Church every Sunday.
The thing is, the people who still wanna vote for him do care.
