Okay, Apparently Robin Williams Isn't Playing Mark Klein on L&O

Lo_williams

I had speculated about this previously at this link, where I said:

For those who don't know, Mark Klein, he's the AT&T whistleblower who says he knows all about the unwarranted, unknown until he spoke about it, surveillance of everything we see and do over phone lines that the Bush Administration has been doing even prior to the 9/11 attacks.

(snip)

I know that doesn't say anything specific, but I'd love to see L&O pick up and run with the story. Betcha the Williams character gets killed in the end.

However, I was wr-wr-wr-wr- (help me Fonzie) wrong.

From Entertainment Weekly:

Exec producer Neal Baer says: ''Richard Belzer [Detective Munch] is friends with Robin, and said he might want to do the show. We came up with a story that we hoped would entice him. It's kind of based on the Milgram experiments. He plays an audio engineer, who has profound problems with authority, and who gets people to do very naughty, nasty things. It's a story about what makes people do things if they think that they won't be responsible.''

Link to the Wikipedia page on the Milgram Experiment is here.

So they're taking up the torture issue instead of spying on citizens without a warrant. Well, fine, but I would have rather seen the other.
