Fox's Unhitched with Rashida Jones, Craig Bierko Comes Next Month
For all of you who have been looking for your post-The Office Rashida Jones series, this is it, and it's from the Farrelly brothers, who, although they really struck out with their most recent Ben Stiller film The Heartbreak Kid, seem to have at least enough show to make a compelling trailer, and these days in television, that's a lot.
From the Fox press release:
Jack "Gator" Gately (Craig Bierko) is a charismatic, optimistic guy who never expected to be single again. But now that he is, he’s determined to make the best of it until he finds “the one.”
Joining Gator in bachelorhood redux are his best friends: thrice-divorced Tommy (Johnny Sneed), the founder and brewmaster of an upstart microbrewery, who has a voracious appetite for food, beer and women; and Dr. Freddy Sahgal (Shaun Majumder), a successful surgeon who can execute a triple bypass in his sleep, but is all thumbs when it comes to the opposite sex.
Rounding out the group is Kate (Rashida Jones), a smart, successful attorney who handled all three of the boys’ divorces. Having just turned 30, Kate finds herself dumped after a seven-year engagement and reluctantly joins the guys in negotiating the treacherous waters of dating. With Kate owning the brownstone next to Gator’s, this pair, over time, may find that “the one” is just a brick wall away.
More, including two clips, after the jump.
This series, btw, was previously known as The Rules for Starting Over, so you might want to update that list of TV show titles you carry around next to that 12-year-old condom in your wallet.
Here's two clips, a promo clip from Brightcove and a Fox behind-the-scenes (at the photo shoot) clips from YouTube.
As you probably know by now, I'll give anything that promises to make me laugh a shot. Which is probably why I never understand when this "sitcoms are dead" period washes over us every few years.
This one has a great creator pedigree and solid performers. I expect that you'll all at least give it a try. I wanna see big sampling numbers for this, so I'll be reminding you about it until it airs in March. The premiere date is Sunday, March 2, probably after a new Family Guy ep they're holding just for the occasion (at least that's what I would be doing if I were them).
