It Seems All is Not Well in Chris Matthewsland

TweetyMan, Tweety is all over the Huff Post media page. Let's look at it all from the bottom of the page (oldest news) to the top (most recent).

First there's this, Chris Matthews: Obama's Speech Made Me Cry:

A visibly moved, sentimental Chris Matthews then chimed in with his account of an Obama speech he attended days before: "It was the best speech I've ever heard. ... And I'm tearing up, and I'm writing down notes, and I'm trying to keep track of this thing. ... His heart must've been broken last night." It appears Chris' was as well.

And then, Did Hillary Win New Hampshire Because Voters Hate Chris Matthews?(with a link to a Columbia Journalism Review piece that included his comments about Mrs. Clinton which included:

We keep forgetting it. She didn’t win on her merits. She won because everybody felt, my god, this woman stood up under humiliation, right? That’s how it happened. In 1998 she went to New York and campaigned for Chuck Schumer as almost like the grieving widow of absurdity, and she did it so well and courageously, but it was about the humiliation of Bill Clinton.

Enter Jon Stewart (in words I did not see him say because I'm supporting the WGA and not watching The Daily Show until the writers are back).

Next HuffPo headline? Watch Stewart vs. Matthews Round 2: Jon Calls Chris Insane:

Last night on "The Daily Show" a writerless Stewart played a clip of MSNBC's Matthews and sidekick Keith Olbermann making Lawrence of Arabia metaphors to describe Hillary Clinton the night of the New Hampshire primary. He then mocked it with a metaphor of his own. If you can't watch the clip, know that it ends with Stewart saying of Matthews, "That guy is insane."

And then finally, MSNBC Exec: "Keith Runs MSNBC" (with a link to MediaBistro.com):

If MSNBC anchor Keith Olbermann were to write a book about Office Politics 101, he'd call it "Do As I Write, Not As I Did for 20 Years." Olbermann discusses office politics and other issues in the February issue of Men's Journal magazine, out yesterday.

In the interview with Paul Tullis, one focus is Olbermann's habit of, "trashing people publicly, even his employers."

But he seems to be doing well for himself in the office now. Tullis cites a senior executive at MSNBC, who says, "Keith runs MSNBC. It's been an amazing turnaround, because two years ago they were going to cancel him. Because of his success, he's in charge. Chris Matthews is infuriated by it."

Aw, poor Tweety. I betcha he's enfuriated. But you know he only has himself to blame. Why would he ever say to anyone anywhere what he said about Hillary? How do you pretend to be somewhat impartial once that bit of vitriol is out of the bag?

And as for Olbermann (the man with the cake frosting hair), the reason that he's in charge is because he connects with us. I'm never quite sure what Chris' deal is. There are days when he seems to understand the issues at play and there are times when he seems to have dragged ideology to the studio that day from the Dark Ages.

Keith in engaging and compelling. Matthews? Well, we've nicknamed him after a cartoon bird in a cage that has a stupid cat chasing him. Does that say enough?

Sure, the oversized head and blond hair come into play as well, but I choose Countdown over Hardball every time, not just for watchability but for its presentation of the issues.
