AMC's Mad Men and Subservient Women (But Those Women Are Beginning to See the Light)

Last week's episode of Mad Men was set up just like a joke of the era, and it took the whole hour for the joke to play out.

Roger feels less than desirable when he realizes the girls at the bar are looking at Don and not him. He hits on Don's wife. Don does that 60s thing where he blames his wife for the activity (bad Don!), Don takes Roger out for oysters and drinks before the big Nixon meeting, he pays the elevator operator to fake mechanical problems when they return. They walk up to the 23rd floor and Roger vomits (and it was SNL-style hose-full-of-green oatmeal vomit) practically filling the shoes of the Nixon guys, and Don gets his revenge.

This week? Well, here are some scenes. Seems to me there's a chance that Don's biting offf a big more than he can chew when he asks his Greenwich Village artist gal Midge to spend some time with him ... in Paris. What? Betty doesn't have the intelligence to enjoy the lights of Paris? Or does Don just want a little french during his visit to France ('cause Betty doesn't do things like that, she's ... a housewife, after all!).
