Who Told ABC We Were Dying to Play Bingo at Home?
Because from what I know about people who play bingo, it's not really about the game, it's about going somewhere and seeing other people who have the same interest in bingo as you do. By the way, all the people I know who play bingo? I think they'd rather just go somewhere and play bingo. Also, as Spade said last night on The Showbiz Show, most bingo players aren't up to the task of logging onto ABC.com and downloading the bingo cards.
Without that aspect, isn't it just watching people play bingo? Is that what America is looking for this summer? Let's see what Variety's Brian Lowry has to say about this:
Completely skill-free except for a rudimentary grasp of probability, the program meets the two major criteria of modern gameshows -- cheap and simple minded -- while dressing up a pastime enjoyed by old ladies in Nebraska with graphics recalling "The Running Man."
The show's hosted by "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition's" Ed Sanders with hyperactive abandon, but its one real breakthrough is "bingo master" Sunil Narkar, who periodically gets to yell, "No Bingo! Play still on!" -- a line that has "drinking game" written all over it.
