Tucker Carlson to Follow in Footsteps of Johnny Carson?

Tucker_carlsonYes. I know, I have a lot of fun with headlines sometimes, but this is real. Note the pic of Tucker from his last outside gig.

From TVWeek.com:

CBS has tapped conservative MSNBC pundit and famed bow-tie aficionado Tucker Carlson to host its game show pilot "Who Do You Trust?"

(snip)

Mr. Carlson has some experience with prime-time reality programming, having appeared on last fall's edition of "Dancing With the Stars." He hosts the political talk show "Tucker" on MSNBC and was previously a co-host on CNN's "Crossfire."

Though Mr. Carlson might seem a unique choice for a game show, "Trust" host duties include interviewing guests and extracting key information about their motivations and gameplay, bringing Mr. Carlson's experience as talk show host into play.

Uh, what? I think the question is should a guy who hosts a daily show on a cable news network be hosting a game show?

Hell, when Ted Baxter was presented with the possibility, you expected him to jump at it, but Ted was, well, Ted.

Year 6, #5. Ted's Moment of Glory. Ted the Quizzzzmaster. "You're a newsman, Ted." Flight of the Bumblebee with a wet spatula. Weekly salaries: Ted: $750, Mary: $280, Murray: $275. When Ted got lucky: won football pool, TV in raffle, and on his 43rd date with Georgette. Producer of quiz show, Mr. Hillman played Carol's awful date on Bob. Contestants: Elliot Jensen from Denver, Charlotte Gruen from Pasadena, Joyce Franklin from Cape Code. Ginger, the assistant. Penalty for wrong answer: horse breaks his leg and is shot. Ted thinks he won't be hired because of anti-semitism. Warren Jessup from channel 6 is interested in coming to WJM. What Ted has that Cronkite et al. lacked: unpredictability. Ted's offers: $1000, $1200, $1750. The wart. "Stay." Charles Lee & Gig Henry. 10/11/75. 5007.

And btw, it's grammatically incorrect. Will Tucker host a show called, "Whom Do You Trust?"

Original host of the show? Johnny Carson. I've watched Johnny Carson, I've been charmed by Johnny Carson. Mr. Carlson, you are no Johnny Carson.

And, this is what Jon Stewart said way back when about Tucker (and Paul Begala, it's the whole segment, all 16 minutes, so if you don't watch it won't hurt my feelings):
