"Dawn, Portrait of A Teenage Runaway" on Ice?

Whaddya think? Olympic Gold Medalist Sara Hughes, in her first tour since apparently falling off the map, stars as Dawn, the role originated by Eve Plumb in the original TV movie from the 1970s (and oh ... my ... God, there's a single clip from it on YouTube and here it is (it's a little dark, but beggars can't be choosers):

Dawn_vhs_coverHere's the All Movie Guide page on the movie. Directed by Randall Kleiser, who has a track record in the teen genre, as we know. In fact, I'm pretty sure that this was his TV movie swan song, moving into theatrical for good after this.

But, think about pimps and and teen hookers on ice doing all kinds of jumps and spins on clear platform heels and halter tops, some brutish Bo Hopkins doppelganger in full hockey pads slamming his girls into the boards, and johns peering out of sleds cruising the ice for a good time.

Then, in his skacting (combining skating and acting) debut, Johnny Weir saves the day as Dawn's knight in shining armor, Alexander (played originally by Leigh McCloskey, for you trivia buffs) setting up the eventual sequel, Alexander, the Other Side of Dawn on Ice.

Now, seriously, and I'm talking to you TV Land, (and Rob Pellizzi, very disappointed that you are not Googling yourself daily so that I'll hear from you) you need to get all these movies packaged and marketed to us boomers maybe for weekends or late night, 'cause we'd get a kick out of seeing them. There are so many ABC MOWs out there that I'd love to see. There was one were Bill Bixby (or maybe it wasn't, I can't find it on his imdb page) played this guy who's wife had a third child in violation of the law and they were hiding the kid, which made a big impact on me as a third child.

But, back to the ice thing, if HSM can be an ice show, why not just call Julie Taymor in and let her have at Dawn ..., but on ice where every TV movie belongs.

Your suggestions would fit very well in the comments section.
